Stay Safe This Halloween

That spooky time of year is almost here!  That’s right, Halloween is right around the corner.  Jamestown Shoe and Luggage Service wants you and your child to be safe this Halloween.  Here are a few tips to make sure that your child’s Halloween costume is safe:

•    Make sure your child’s costume is flame-retardant.  If you make the costume, make sure the material that you use is also flame-retardant.
•    If possible, have your child dress in a light-colored costume.  This makes them easier to spot in the dark.  If the costume needs to be dark, then use a light- colored bag to put all of the Halloween candy in.
•    Have your child carry a flashlight, glow stick, or adhere reflective tape to his/her costume.
•    Use non-toxic face paint (that you have done a trial run with in order to prevent any unexpected allergic reactions) instead of a face mask.
•    Make sure that all props that your child carries are flexible in case they fall.  Better yet, skip the props.
•    Make sure your child’s costume fits and doesn’t drag on the ground so they won’t slip and fall. 
•    If your child is wearing a wig, beard, or other accessory, make sure that it fits properly and doesn’t impede your child’s vision.
•    Don’t let your child trick or treat in heels or shoes that don’t fit properly since they may fall.

We also service leather goods and women’s handbags.  Items such as zippers, straps, buckles, and stitching can be replaced or repaired.  Handbags, purses, briefcases, and other types of leather goods can all be serviced at our location.

We also offer a mail in repair service for those that are unable to make it to our store.  To utilize our mail in repair service, please visit online at http://www.floridashoeandluggagerepair.com/Mail-In-Your-Repairs.html.  Just access the form, print it out, fill in the information, and mail in the form along with your repair work to our address.  We are located at 931 North State Road 434, Suite # 1255, in Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.  Once we receive your items, we will call you with the final price and request payment.  Once the repairs are completed, we will mail your items back to you.
