•    Make a list of what you need
•    Pack clothes that are comfortable to wear and that you can mix and match
•    Consider using packing cubes in your suitcase/duffle bag in order to maximize space in your bag (the trunk can only hold so many suitcases)
•    Have every traveler, including children, have their own small bag or tote next to them in the car.  The bag could include books, toys, electronics, etc.
•    Pack electronics to keep everyone busy and entertained.  Don’t forget the chargers and cords!
•    Pack snacks for everyone.  Consider bringing a cooler.  Have cups with lids for everyone to help prevent spills
•    Have a garbage bag to put all of that trash into
•    Pack a laundry bag or hamper to store dirty laundry
•    If you are traveling over multiple days and stopping for the night at a hotel, consider packing an overnight bag/backpack with everyone’s essential items so that you don’t need to load and unload the luggage every time you stop at a hotel
•    Make sure you pack different types of shoes depending on where you are traveling.  For example, hiking boots if you are heading out hiking, dress shoes if you are attending an event such as a wedding, or sneakers/sandals for sightseeing
