It’s Halloween time!  Spooky music, candy, and holiday decorations all signal the start of Halloween season.  Jamestown Shoe and Luggage Service want you and your family to be safe this Halloween.  Here are a few tips for a safe Halloween:

•    Wear comfortable shoes.  The sparkly plastic shoes or heels that came with a costume can cause blisters, a twisted ankle, or even a broken ankle.  Play it safe and wear comfortable shoes.
•    Be visible.  Wear light colored costumes.  Bring a flashlight.  Put reflective tape on costumes.  Have the kids carry a glow stick or wear flashing lights around their necks. 
•    Stay in groups.  Do not trick or treat alone.  Never enter a stranger’s home.
•    Be careful with masks.  Make sure they fit properly.  If not, choose to use non-toxic face paint instead.
•    Make sure your costume is safe.  Do you have a tail or cape that is dragging on the ground and that can trip someone?  Check to see that all props such as knives, swords, and guns are flexible and won’t hurt anyone.
•    Inspect all candy before eating it. 
•    Supervise children at all times.
•    Be careful crossing the street.  Double check for traffic.
